GRAFFITI KASI2KASI

Painting Masakhane Bridge in Mamelodi Township, Gauteng Province

A Collaboration project between FiFi The RAI BLASTER and XENO & ZANG (KALA BROTHERZ)

We hope this is the first of many projects to come that will inspire youth, add color in the streets and connect previously artistic and still disadvantaged communities. We use Graffiti/Street art as a tool of expressing our ideas, feelings and socio-political opinions and critique.

KALA BROTHERZ CREW is from Mdantsane Township in Eastern Cape Province. We have been painting the walls in the streets of Mdantsane massages of hope and inspiration to inspire and educate youth and public about Graffiti and Hip Hop Culture as means of guidance as we navigate for survival eKasi and around the world.

FIFI THE RAI BLASTER loves to create music for social change. We met and decided to collaborate on a venture of Art Activist to use our Art to try and influence some changes in our social spaces and systems. We noticed that we share the same sentiment in terms of development in the Township life; we hope to influence a positive charge that will give birth to new conscience thinking about social-political issues that affect our education, life and identity.

FIFI has started an art mobile library for the Mamelodi Township which is called UTOPIA Art Mobile Library (@utopiaPTA) . The library is aimed at compiling unrecorded information that could be helpful when conducting a research about the life of influential individuals from the Township. It will also cover t stories, culture and values that shaped us and guided us to survive the Township life style.

We hope to travel linking and painting the walls of other Township around South Africa whose youth experiences the same problems, same social patterns and grind.
