Billboard Destruction and Hood Reconstruction: Me2  and Xeno going beyond what the TV feeds the eye of the society.

Graffiti art is one of the elements of Hip Hop Culture. Hip Hop Culture is made of five elements which are DJing, MCing, Graffiti, Breaking and Knowledge of Self. Mdantsane is a very artistically underdeveloped community while youth is developed by influences from TV and corporate companies invade our public spaces by sticking images of their products on our public walls. We are forced to see these images in everyday of our lives while we are also stuck with images of being someone one day. Hip Hop Culture has managed to influence us to rebel against the hardship and limited education we receive in our society. We use public art to communicate to the public in a creative way. By painting over a mural of a famous South African soapie SCANDAL we commenting on the fact that the youth is encouraged to sit and watch soapies.  Instead we hope to encourage youth to be aware of creative experession, public space access and privacy invasion.

Viewers during my 2^nd solo exhibition Beyond Synergy 2010. I curated this exhibition for the whole duration of the 2010 National Arts Festival. The public was captured by the energy projected by the artworks.   

Artisti Explorations an interveiw with cueTV during the 2010 National Arts Festival held annualy Grahamstowm, Earten Cape. Beyond Synergy is a body of work reflects a visual language that explores the notions of the relationship between things in existence, things working together to create harmony in society and how universal objects co-exist in respect of one another. This exhibition offers a “breaking boundaries” view of synergy on this earth through a technique of contracts, silhouettes, textured surfaces combined with oil painting.

The exhibition was funded by ECPACC and hosted at the Albany Museum.

Poster Portfolio and Giggz

      

Here is a portfolio of posters I designed for hip hop events Couchlock organized in collaboration with RODH, Village Boy and The Movement. These hip hop events are normally hosted in open spaces and the public is normally invited to share their creativity. Atmosphere is always soul fool and spiritually uplifting. Unsigned artists get platforms to share, link and build on collaborations with other artists. Hip Hop, POetry, Graffiti painting, DJ and Break dancing, all elements of hip hop are explored, lived and embraced. We have relied in funding to make these projects a success.
